“We knew what we needed, but we weren't sure how to get there. PunchOut2Go and Liaison came up with a perfect solution for us,” said RPD’s Frank Miller.

Refuse Parts Depot is a parts supplier for the transportation industry. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, Refuse Parts Depot (RPD) specializes in providing OEM and aftermarket parts for refuse and waste management trucks and equipment. Recently, RPD was asked to provide punchout integration to their online catalog by one of their buyers on the Ariba network and they immediately saw an opportunity to bring in a feature that would add value to future customers as well.

This complex and unique set of requirements is why Refuse Parts Depot looked to PunchOut2Go (PO2GO) to help with developing a solution that would meet all of their needs. PO2Go has developed the only punchout capable Magento Extension that scaled efficiently. While PO2Go was very familiar with how to do punchout - they wanted an integration platform to tie all of the moving parts together in order to meet all of RPD’s requirements.

The "Punchout" Challenge

Refuse Parts Depot had a complex technology requirement requested by one of its major customers. While RPD used Magento, an open-source ecommerce platform, for its web ordering, Magento wasn’t inherently punchout capable. RPD’s customer, a major waste management company, needed to be able to make purchases directly from their Ariba spend management system which required RPD to look for a punchout solution. RPD Contracted with PunchOut2Go to implement punchout capabilities into their existing Magento eCommerce Build. Once the punchout catalog integration was completed and launched, RPD’s customer requested to have a “Draft Cart” feature to give buyers the ability to call into RPD directly and place custom orders while maintaining the ability to still punchout and purchase through their Magento eCommerce system to the Ariba Network

To further complicate the requirements, RPD wanted to integrate the Magento eCommerce system into their QuickBooks application to allow for easier quoting when custom orders were called into the company. These enhancements would be beneficial to the company, but it would require a monumental task from an IT department with limited resources.
