  • On the Road with PunchOut2Go: Jaggaer’s REV2018 Conference Recap

PunchOut2Go recently sponsored and attended the REV2018 conference, hosted by Jaggaer. Over 600 attendees including customers, suppliers, procurement leaders, and Jaggaer partners, traveled to the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada to hear from over 70 speakers at 50 different presentations and attend daily networking events for conversation and collaboration around the challenges, successes, and future of strategic procurement initiatives.

This was the first conference Jaggaer has hosted since its rebranding last year. Formerly called “SciQuest”, Jaggaer derived its new name from the German word for hunter, to encompass their new brand promise of delivering comprehensive spend solutions for a broader range of businesses. They started out by providing e-procurement services for the higher education market, which today is about half its business. The other portion now includes transportation, manufacturing, and retail, all of which will continue to expand. They wanted their company name to reflect that growth and new direction.

In the opening keynote presentation, Jaggaer CTO Zia Zahiri kept with the theme of reinvention and announced a future-focused new roadmap for its platform, Intelligent eProcurement. He revealed several new features to provide a more intuitive user experience with improved analytics, search, and automation tools, developed around the feedback of Jaggaer customers. Intelligent eProcurement is designed to address automation of commodity purchasing, inventory replenishment, and strategic purchasing.

A common topic at a few of the speaker sessions were Scorecards for your Key Suppliers and understanding how to partner, define, and determine metrics to create Strategic Partner Programs. Learning how to change the mindset from tactical to strategic will help open opportunities for collaboration, improve internal processes, and have better compliance to reduce risk.

It was encouraged to identify core suppliers by tiers based on the level of importance to the organization, invite suppliers to share their roadmap, and discuss common business problems while providing supplier support. Once this is accomplished it allows companies to identify the most critical suppliers and the type of enterprise-wide impact they have (such as high spend, volume transaction, willingness to partner-openness, data sharing with quarterly business reviews, supplier relationship manuals, innovation, catalog adoption, electronic invoicing, successful e-payable programs, etc.).

Jaggaer hosted an content-rich event and thoroughly shared how they support their customers and partners. There are currently 2,353 integrated suppliers with over 500 projects that are managed by dedicated project managers and agents with a Supplier Portal that allows questions, enablement, network profiles, and testing. One area that has increased is PunchOut with their suppliers. Jaggaer had 800 in the past two years, which represented significant growth from previous years.

Savvy B2B suppliers understand that buyers prefer to partner with companies that are PunchOut enabled to make it less difficult to do business with them, which is why PunchOut2Go works to make PunchOut and B2B commerce integrations easy. As PunchOut2Go CEO Brady Behrman states, “I like to think PunchOut2Go is helping e-procurement providers and buyers alike reap benefits, cut costs, and spread savings.”
