A Year in Review - 2016 eProcurement System Integrations

PunchOut2Go sits in the ideal position to be able to measure the number of B2B commerce integrations by procurement software provider within the eProcurement market. Supporting over 500 customers across all verticals in 37 countries to upwards of 80 different procurement systems with thousands of integration points, PunchOut2Go is proud to present this year in review.

PunchOut2Go’s cloud-based adaptable Gateway technology makes it possible for vendors to seamlessly connect their eCommerce storefronts and Order Management Systems through PunchOut2Go to their Buyers’ procurement systems.

Because PunchOut2Go technology sits in the middle, supporting B2B commerce integrations such as PunchOut Catalogs, purchase orders and invoices on integrated procurement systems, data is readily available on which procurement software providers the PunchOut2Go client base is being asked to integrated with. The PunchOut2Go client base consists of small, medium to large enterprise supplier organizations in various industries such as manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, biotechnology, education, automotive, information technology, and electrical to name a few.

The information outlined below is based on data collected from integrated accounts within PunchOut2Go’s client-base. Although this information is only based on integrations we manage across our global client-base, we feel that this is a good representation of the current market trends and provides some insight into some key eProcurement players that Buying organizations are leveraging to increase visibility into spend and automate the procure to pay process.

When comparing 2016 integrations over 2015 for PunchOut2Go’s client-base with services including PunchOut, Purchase Order and Invoicing, the following 3 eProcurement software providers stood out with considerable growth:

  1. Coupa

    • Coupa is a cloud-based spend management software company located in San Mateo, California that has repeatedly grown year over year. Their focus is on buying organizations across many different industries. Through our industry experience at PunchOut2Go, we have found that many buying organizations are moving from other named procurement systems to Coupa and we also find that user-adoption has been key to the success of Buyers utilizing Coupa to manage spend. Coupa is driving value across the board, we expect triple digit growth in 2017 with Coupa.

  2. SAP Ariba

    • SAP Ariba is a software and information technology services company located in Palo Alto, California. It was acquired by German software maker SAP in 2012. SAP Ariba provides a better user interface and marketplace solution than SAP, hence SAP’s acquisition of Ariba. Through our experience at PunchOut2Go, we have seen many buying organizations previously integrating directly with their SAP ERP system are shifting their spend to SAP Ariba or other providers such as Coupa. Through PunchOut2Go supported integrations, we continue to see fewer direct SAP integrations while SAP Ariba integrations continue to grow.

  3. SciQuest

    • SciQuest is a pure-play provider of cloud-based business automation solutions for spend management headquartered at Morrisville, North Carolina. Their focus has been predominantly targeting Higher Education Universities and State Government buying organizations. We envision continued triple-digit growth with SciQuest integrations in 2017.

When we first started within eProcurement and PunchOut integrations over a decade ago, there was really only a handful of providers. These providers, to name a few, included SAP, Ariba, Oracle, & Peoplesoft. The organizations utilizing these eProcurement technologies were the giants of the world (Government and Fortune 100 then Fortune 500). Now, there are many more providers that offer solutions for small to medium sized organizations and the mid-market sector is growing rapidly.

In a whitepaper released by Coupa and Spend Matters in late 2015, “Should Mid-Market Firms Invest in eProcurement Systems?”, one of the questions highlighted was: “So why should we be looking at this now - what makes this the right time?” Peter Smith, Managing Editor Spend Matters Europe answered “It is easier than ever to implement procurement technology generally and purchase-to-pay systems specifically. The software solutions are more cost-effective than ever, and used properly, they will deliver greater benefits than have previously been likely. Even if you looked at P2P just three or four years ago, recent developments mean that this is a more attractive proposition now – you would be surprised at the pace of change.” Download from Coupa.

In 2017, PunchOut2Go will integrate with many new procurement systems as additional providers continue to enter into the market. Below is a list of all named eProcurement systems that PunchOut2Go has connected with. Please note that there are other systems, not mentioned below, that are generally one-off, internally built homegrown applications in which we connect with that are not included in this list.
